The Hymenoptera Anatomy Ontology (HAO) project seeks to provide a logical foundation for researchers referencing hymenopteran anatomy. By utilizing the HAO researchers provide others with an assay for testing whether or not they are truly speaking about the same anatomical concept.
This site is intended as a forum for hymenopterist community and anyone else to use in discussing various aspects of this massive undertaking - i.e., developing the HAO - mainly, how to organize ourselves and how to partition the responsibilities, but also to continue our dialog concerning the finer details of ontology development, testing, and use. A published introduction to the HAO is now available.
