How do I associate references with terms?

First see here.

There are three basic ways to reference/cite what you have added:

  1. The "written by" reference. In this reference select who wrote the verbatim copy of the defintion. If you have altered any text from the originally cited manuscript, regardless as to whether or not you have changed the meaning of the definition, then YOU are the reference. If you have not been added as a reference add yourself, or contact us to see how to add yourself. For example follow reference 67791 (you can search references by id).
  2. Attribution of the concept that you've supplied is done by attaching a "sensu" tag. When showing a term, under "functions" in the left side links, click the "tag" link. Search for and select the "sensu" tag. Then search for and select the reference that the concept was taken from. You may optionally include the page(s) and any notes to clarify your attribution.
  3. If the added term is from another existing ontology then you should provide a xref tag. As above for sensu create a new tag but select the "xref" tag. Instead of selecting a reference copy and paste the xref ID for the term into the "referenced object field".
